(UPDATED 8/6/2020) It is with great sadness that we announce the cancellation of the 2020 Last Chance BQ.2 Marathon.
Approximately 8 weeks ago we submitted fully re-designed event plans (Illinois Phase #4 compliant) to the required municipal and governmental entities and were given approval to proceed with the event.
However, last week, the State of Illinois issued new restrictions on sporting events (https://bit.ly/30wlzif). We have spent this past week discussing these restrictions with local authorities, leading medical professionals, and other event organizers, in hopes that our event might somehow be redesigned again to fit within these new restrictions. But, the consensus of all is that there is no workable solution, and we must therefore cancel the 2020 Last Chance BQ.2 Marathon.
Just like you, we are extremely disappointed with this latest turn of events but understand the need to put the safety of our runners, volunteers, medical personnel and spectators as our highest priority.
If you’re currently registered to run the Last Chance BQ.2, please look for an email from the race directors outlining your options.
Thank you for your patience and understanding. We will all get through this together and look forward to helping runners achieve their Boston dreams at the 2021 Last Chance BQ.2.
